Relationship in Xmind

The Relationship feature creates custom lines that connect any two topics to show a special link. Use it to highlight dependencies, cross-references, or supporting notes in your mind map.

To add a relationship, open your map, choose the Relationship tool from the toolbar or use the keyboard shortcut, then click and drag between the two topics you want to link. After placing the line you can edit its label, change color, adjust line ends, and move or rotate the connector to avoid overlap.

• Select the Relationship tool or press the shortcut, then click and drag from one topic to another to create the connector.

• Edit the relationship label to explain the link, and customize color or line ends to make it stand out.

• Use relationships for floating topics, cross-topic references, or to visually group items like a triangle or supported structure.

Relationship in Xmind helps you show non-hierarchical connections clearly and keeps complex maps readable. Use it when ideas interact across branches or when you need to mark dependencies that the tree structure does not express.
