Label in Xmind

The Label feature lets you add short, custom tags to any topic box in Xmind. Use labels for quick notes, simple categorization, and to filter related topics across your map.

To add a label, select a topic, open Insert → Label (or use the shortcut Shift+Command+L on Mac / Ctrl+Shift+L on Windows). Enter one or multiple labels separated by commas; saved labels appear for reuse.

  • Use labels as small notes like concept or explanation to keep details visible without cluttering the map.

  • Assign multiple labels to a topic to mark teams, status, or types, for example design, branding, or advertising.

  • Open View → Show Navigation Panel → Marker and Label to filter the map and highlight all topics with a chosen label.

Labels are best when you need lightweight notes and fast grouping without creating extra nodes. They make maps easier to scan and let you quickly find or highlight related topics using the navigation panel.
