Boundary in Xmind

Boundary is a visual tool for grouping and categorizing related topics on your mind map. It creates a closed area around topics so sections read clearly and stay organized. Boundaries are useful for labeling groups or separating sections without changing map structure.

To use Boundary, select two or more topics then add a boundary from the toolbar or use the shortcut (Ctrl/Cmd+Shift+B). Double-click the boundary or press space to enter a label. Boundaries remain editable and movable as your map changes. You can also resize and drag the boundary to include more topics as your map grows.

• Group similar ideas (e.g., beginner vs advanced) by selecting topics and enclosing them in a boundary.

• Create independent sections for recipes or processes by placing boundaries around floating topics.

• Customize boundary style, color, and label font to make sections stand out.

Use the Boundary feature to improve map clarity and visual hierarchy. It’s best for categorizing, highlighting sections, and keeping related content together while you refine your ideas. Try boundaries when you want faster visual scanning or when preparing maps for sharing.
