How to Use Note in Xmind - Shortcut & Tips
Note in Xmind
The Note feature in Xmind lets you attach extra information to any topic without cluttering your map. Use notes to store definitions, explanations, contact details, or study cues that remain hidden until you open them.
To add a note, select a topic and open the Note panel or use the keyboard shortcut: Shift+Command+N on Mac or Ctrl+Shift+N on Windows. Notes stay collapsed in the map view so the structure stays clear; click a topic to view, edit, or format the note content, including bullets.
Add primary or additional info: keep long descriptions, examples, or step details inside a note instead of adding more subtopics.
Study and recall: build digital flashcards by placing terms on the map and storing answers or explanations in notes.
Team and profile details: show names or photos on the map and keep phone numbers, birthdays, or role notes hidden until needed.
Using the note feature helps maintain a tidy visual layout while preserving rich content. Choose notes whenever you want clear map structure with quick access to supporting information.
