If you receive the message “The file was created by a newer version of Xmind.”, it indicates that the mind map was created or saved using the web version or a newer desktop/mobile version of Xmind (V26.02 or later).

Please download Xmind V26.02 or later version and then try opening the file again.

Why This Happens

Starting from Xmind V26.02, we introduced a major architectural upgrade to enhance scalability and enable new features such as Zone. As part of this upgrade, the file format was updated.

Because of this change:

• Files created in V26.02 or later are not compatible with older versions of Xmind.

• To open or edit these files, you must use Xmind V26.02 or later.

Recommendation

For the best experience—including improved performance and access to the newest features—we strongly recommend updating to the latest version of Xmind.
