Grid Structure in Xmind
The Grid Structure in Xmind lets you arrange topics in rows and columns for vertical mind maps. It helps organize ideas into clear cells so related items stay grouped and easy to scan. It is ideal for comparing items, showing timelines, or laying out step-by-step processes.
To apply the Grid Structure, select your central topic, open the Format menu on the toolbar, and choose Grid under Structure. The grid supports mixing different mind-mapping structures within branch topics and you can switch back anytime. After setting the grid, adjust cell alignment, colors, and text to clarify relationships.
Choose a central topic to anchor the grid layout.
Open Format, select Structure, then choose Grid to switch the map to grid mode.
Customize cells by aligning, changing colors, and editing text to highlight groups.
Use the Grid Structure when you need a clear, column-based layout for workflows, comparisons, or multi-step plans. It keeps vertical maps organized and makes complex information easier to read at a glance. Try combining grid cells with other branch structures to fit different content types.
