File Location

File Location

Whether you are using Xmind on desktop or mobile platforms, you have full control over where your data is stored, enhancing both convenience and security.

Desktop

By default, Xmind saves files locally. You can specify the storage location for each mind map file, and Xmind will remember your last saved location for future use.

Mobile (iOS)

To select a preferred storage location on iOS:

  1. open the Xmind app.

  2. Go to Settings and tap Storage.

  3. Choose your desired location.

Mobile (Android)

Xmind on Android allows you to customize the default saving folder. You can select or create a new folder and set it as your default saving location.

To choose a saving folder:

  1. Open Xmind.

  2. Tap on SELECT FOLDER in the window that asks for folder permission access.

  3. Tap the folder icon to create a new folder.

  4. Enter a name for your folder and confirm by tapping OK.

  5. Tap USE THIS FOLDER followed by ALLOW to finalize your selection.

It is highly recommended to create a new folder specifically for your Xmind files to keep them organized.
